Go for a Hike! It's National Trails Days

Today is National Trails Day. Push away from your computer and go for a hike, run, walk, skate, or cycle on a trail in your community. Trails are great for exercise, socializing, wellness, observing nature, and more.

How do you use trails?

My main trail use is to run and bike. The Green Circle Trail is my favorite trail in my community.

While hiking, running, and biking I have assessed some good trail related illness and injury:

  • Cut hand while whittling a walking stick
  • Road rash and abrasions from fall off bicycle
  • Multiple cat bites and scratches from wrangling with a feral feline
  • Bee stings after getting a little too close
  • Blisters – big and small – that are usually fluid filled and on the road to infection if no intervention
  • Poison ivy in anatomical locations that are bad and really bad
  • Asthma attack triggered by exercise and allergens

Be safe while you enjoy National Trails Day. The benefits are worth the risk. Make everyday a trails day.
