EMSEduCast Podcast – Focus on Cardiac Arrest

In a three episode series the EMSEduCast podcast focused on sudden cardiac arrest.

Episode 43 – journal club focus on sudden cardiac arrest research. Discussion about a set of articles related to sudden cardiac arrest resuscitation, implementation of the American Heart Association 2005 Emergency Cardiac Care Guidelines, and the concept of a Resuscitation specialty centers.

Episode 44 – role of students during sudden cardiac arrest calls. Discussion is about the role of students during field training, preparing students to be team leaders, and how to precept students during field training. The discussion specifically focuses on making sure students are ready to team lead if they have a cardiac arrest patient during their field training. Bruce Nepon, author of Field Training Officer: Tips and Techniques, shares his experiences and gives recommendations for best practices.

Episode 45 – factors in survival from sudden cardiac arrest. Dr. Mickey Eisenberg, an EMS medical director, long-time researcher of survival factors from sudden cardiac arrest, and author of Resuscitate!: How Your Community Can Improve Survival from Sudden Cardiac Arrest was the guest.
