Tips to Prepare for an Accelerated Paramedic Program

Jim Hoffman, the EMS Professional, recently discussed the differences between accelerated (1 year or less) paramedic certification and degree programs (2 years or more) for paramedics. You can listen to his full discussion with this Blog Talk Radio episode.

During the conversation Jim shares severe important tips for students that don’t have the time or resources for a 2+ year college curriculum. Jim recommends taking some college level courses in these subjects to prepare for an accelerated paramedic training program:

  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Biology
  • Microbiology
  • Algebra

He also suggested “for students that have already had the above courses or feel they already master these topics, then I still suggest classes in Psychology, Communications, Speech and Sociology.”
