The Story of Ralph Carr: A Principled Politician

Last night I heard the story of Ralph Carr, the Governor of Colorado, who fought against the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II. I had never heard of Governor Carr, but was captivated by his story, as told by the author of the book Adam Schrager.

The part of Governor Carr’s story that interested me most was his willingness to stand-up to loudly declare “this isn’t right!” I have two school age children that are active in sports. I often wonder how they will respond to bullying when it is happening around them. Will they have both the recognition of wrong doing and the courage to intervene or protect a peer.
