My 2010 Training Paramedic Requirements

My paramedic employer is implementing some new training/certification requirements in 2010. I am both excited for the opportunity to receive the training and apprehensive about scheduling in the training time with part-time work shifts and my full-time responsibilities. This what is ahead for me in early 2010.

January:
ACLS/CPR renewal
PALS provider (12 hours)

February:
GEMS Basic and Advanced course (12 hours)

March:
ITLS training and certification course (16 hours)

I have heard good things about GEMS and ITLS. What have you heard? Are these certifications standard for paramedics in your agency?

I don’t know why ITLS was selected over PHTLS or GEMS over AMLS or PALS over PEPP or EPC. Might have something to do with instructor availability.

I am going to need some time management tips to get all of this done.
