Jim Hoffman, the EMS Professional, shared this website that lists 26 applications for the iPhone/iPod touch with me. Some of these, like epocrates, are probably available for other types of smartphones like the Blackberry. I occasionally use epocrates – mostly during training programs to confirm my knowledge about infrequently used drugs.

This is what I would want in an EMS smartphone application:
1. Specific to one task or information need.
2. Easy to use and rapid return of information.
3. Intuitive interface that does not require reading an owner’s manual or online help.
