Lifting and Moving Resources for EMS Patients

How would you lift me off of these stairs?

Lifting and moving is a component of nearly every EMS patient encounter. Finding quality resources on lifting, moving, and stabilization techniques is almost as difficult as finding good training and equipment for patient lifting and moving. Here are a few of my favorite resources:

  1. Video: Remember 2 Things about Lifting and Moving Patients from Steve Whitehead
  2. Team lifting commands that I have used when lifting and moving patients of any size
  3. Whenever you can use assist devices, like the hoyer lift, before moving the patient
  4. Bariatric patient lifting and moving training curriculum
  5. On duty fitness advice for strengthening your legs from Bryan Fass
  6. Doing the EMS Three Step, lifting patients in the field
  7. Description of the best patient handling devices and products by paramedic and EMS product innovator Dan White

Add your resources, especially online videos that demonstrate proper lifting, in the comments area of this post. Thanks!
