Jesse H. Neal Award for Best Commentary

I received word earlier this week that I won a Neal Award for Best Commentary (all 2018 winners), based on three submissions from my EMS1 column:

  1. What President Trump gets wrong about the opioid epidemic
  2. Don’t ask paramedics to decide if opioid overdose victims live or die
  3. It’s time to talk climate change and its effect on first responders

Last year I won in the Best Profile category. My second Neal award is a terrific individual honor. More importantly the recognition increases awareness of the opioid epidemic and challenges facing public safety professionals.
