How to Overcome First Day of School Jitters

Ensure that you skip the jitters and instead have a great first day as an EMT or Paramedic student by using these 5 Everyday EMS Tips.

1. Be prepared. Purchase and organize your materials in advance.

2. Be on time. Know where you are going, how long it will take you to get there and where you will park.

3. Look professional. Be clean and wear professional clothing. An EMT uniform is usually blue or black slacks (no jeans) and a polo or dress shirt.

4. Meet your instructor in advance. Once you are registered for your courses, schedule an appointment with your instructor. Ask the instructor what you can do to prepare for the first day, as well as advice for succeeding as an EMT student.

5. Keep an open mind. The first few days of any course are filled with learning a routine, meeting new people, and getting used to the environment.
