Sales
EMS, especially when provided by a public agency, doesn’t have to do traditional sales and marketing. What EMS does need to do is communicate its value to the community. If the community is not sold on your value the result is doing more with less or even worse … doing less with less.
Customer Service
In EMS our customers aren’t just the patients. The customers we serve change throughout the day. Your customer might be an internal customer. The customers for the fleet mechanic are the drivers of the ambulances. The billing department is one of your customers. Are you providing them a timely and well prepared patient care report so they can optimally recover charges.
Education
We always have opportunities to educate and many times we educate by doing and showing. Someone is always watching.
Maintenance
Sweeping has never been on any of my job description, but it has been part of every job I have ever had.
